Maharashtra Public Services Commission came into existence under Article 315 of Indian Constitution. As a constitutional body, it is entrusted with responsibility to ensure smooth working of state Government by providing eligible candidates to work at various positions in government departments. It conducts examinations and renders advice to government on all related matters. Recently, the commission has issued notification for recruitment of Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors. Those eligible for this post may apply online before 1/11/2013. 

Vacancy details and eligibility criteria:

MPSC has issued notification for filing the post of 215 Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector. These posts are further divided into reserved and unreserved categories as per government rules.
Those candidates aged between 19 and 33 years as calculated on 01/02/2014 may apply for this post. They must be 10th/ 12th pass or Diploma holder from a recognized institute.Read recruitment details

Selection Procedure:
The eligible candidates will be selected on the basis of a written test. This written examination is bifurcated into pre exam and Main exam. Those qualifying the pre exam will appear in Main exam. This main exam will be followed by a personal interview of passing candidates.


About exam:
Paper I (Pre) will carry 100 marks while Paper II (Main) will carry 300 marks from objective type questions. The pre exam will include subjects like General studies, Reasoning, and Mechanical & Automobile engineering. The Main exam pertains to Mechanical/ Automobile Engineering. Candidates have choice to opt for English or Marathi as language for Pre exam while for main exam, only English is allowed.


Exam Syllabus:

Paper 1:
General Studies: This paper will test general awareness of the candidates in respect of Current Affairs, Social Studies, General Knowledge, General History, Geography, and Civics.
Reasoning: This paper is intended to judge the promptness and precision in decision making of the candidates.
Mechanical & Automobile engineering: To test the latest developments in these disciplines.


Paper 2:
Mechanical / Automobile Engineering: This paper will be divided into two sections. The standard of the paper will be same as that of Diploma in this discipline. The section wise syllabus is discussed below:
Section A- : Mechanical and Automobile Engineering:
It includes topics like Strength of Materials, Mechanical Technology, Theory of Machines, Hydraulics, Thermal Engineering, Automobile Engines, and Industrial Electronics.
Section B: Mechanical Engineering:
Under this paper, the questions will test knowledge of candidates regarding Hydraulic Machinery, Industrial Engineering, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning.
Section C: Automobile Engineering:
The candidates have an option to choose between section B and C. In section C, their knowledge will be tested on topics like Automobile Systems, Vehicle Maintenance, and Transport Management.
